Dr. Lauren Kostiner

Veterinarian

Dr. Lauren grew up surrounded by her family pets - she started following her mom in horseback riding when she was only four - developing a sincere love of animals. Lauren had a great experience when she volunteered her time overseas as a medical first responder. As she got older, she realized that there was a career custom made for her: in becoming a veterinarian, she would be able to combine her love of animals with her interest in medicine.

Lauren received her Bachelor of Science degree at Queen’s University in 2011 before pursuing her veterinary degree at Murdoch University in 2015 in Perth Australia. Upon returning home, Dr. Lauren started her career in a mixed animal clinic, treating everything from cats and dogs to pigs, chickens, lemurs and servals! Dr. Kostiner was very happy to be returning to her hometown when she joined our practice as she grew up here in Thornhill. For the last half-decade, Dr. Lauren has been focused on her true love - the cats and dogs that filled her childhood and home with their unconditional love and playful joy. Dr. Lauren’s special interests include dermatology and orthopedics.

Dr. Lauren believes in progressive medicine and is constantly applying and implementing new research and treatment options to best suit the needs of each individual patient. She values open communication and helping to educate pet parents on their animals’ medical conditions and needs in order to provide the best possible care as she recognizes that excellent pet care is a partnership where the pets' parents play the most important role.

Outside of work, Dr. Lauren can be found horseback riding, golfing, or baking. She shares her life with Timtam the papillon, Pekoe the long-haired chihuahua, and Fatso, a tuxedo kitty who more commonly responds to ‘Cookie’ or ‘Foodsies.’ As you can guess from Fatso's name he shares Dr. Lauren's love of food and she understands first-hand the struggles pet parents go through trying to keep their pets at a healthy weight.
